UN Habitat III is the most important debate on cities for 20 years and 2016 will see the creation of a new intergovernmental agreement on what we need to do for our cities. The New Urban Agenda is due next October, emerging from UN Habitat III global congress. The initiative is nested in the COP21 about sustainable development signed in Paris in December 2015. The purpose of the whole thing is to agree the basis (and targets) for ‘livable cities'.
