COMMITTED AND INTELLIGENT MASTER PLANNING
A MASTER PLAN TO RESHAPE THE CENTRE OF HAMMERSMITH IN LONDON
Master plan for one of the London Opportunity Areas in the fast-changing west of London. Hammersmith is a traditional town centre, at an important crossroads that in the 50s and 60s was transformed in a major segregated highways system.
More recently, the centre has attracted progressively taller buildings that are now fiercely opposed by the community.
The master plan, developed reporting to a group of resident representatives, identified a long-term strategy for development (including regulating heights), expand the cultural offer and dramatically improve pedestrian liveability. URBAN Silence led the development of the public realm strategy and the rationale for new movement arrangements and a new concept for the bus station in dialogue with Transport for London.
