COMMITTED AND INTELLIGENT MASTER PLANNING
VOLUNTEERING TO SUPPORT THE COMMUNITY WHERE DEVELOPMENT IS TAKING PLACE – PLANNING AID FOR LONDON
Being a trustee of Planning Aid for London is part of our belief that communities have the power to become constructive partners of development and lead to the construction of better places.
Very often communities feel powerless when faced with the considerable financial interest of developers or the bureaucracy of the planning system. In addition, residents or community associations do not have planning as their main priority or daytime occupation, and find it difficult to get organised and respond effectively to technical documents and deadlines. Yet, their concerns and observations are often relevant and useful to ensure development takes place in the right way.
Emerging government policy is promoting and giving value to community active participation and bottom-up planning, but allocate very limited resources and support to community groups.
Planning Aid for London is a charity that provides free support on town planning and development through volunteers, working with people and communities in London who cannot otherwise afford professional support.
